Coordinates: 32 ° 38 ′ S , 115 ° 52 ′ E The Shire of Murray is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1,711 km² and has around 17,000 inhabitants (2016).
Murray is located in the west of the state about 75 kilometers south of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Pinjarra , where about 3900 inhabitants live (2016).

The Murray Council has twelve members. The councilors are elected by residents of the five wards (four from the West Ward, three from the Pinjarra, two from the North West and one each from the North, East and South Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
