The Musée Maurice Ravel in Montfort-l'Amaury , a French commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region , is located in the Villa Le Belvédère , where the composer Maurice Ravel lived from 1921 until his death in 1937 .

House number 5 on Rue Maurice Ravel, above the old town of Montfort-l'Amaury, offers a wide view of the city and the forest of Rambouillet . From 1921 Maurice Ravel composed all of his works here, e. B. L'enfant et les sortilèges and the Boléro .

The villa was built in 1907 according to the plans of the Parisian architect Jacques Morel . Maurice Ravel had it rebuilt after 1921 according to his ideas and in 1926/27 he had a Japanese garden laid out. Since 1994 the villa has been registered as a monument historique in the list of monuments.

The house was donated to the Réunion des musées nationaux in 1971 and then converted into a museum. Today the museum is run by the municipality of Montfort-l'Amaury, which renovated the building. Since the museum reopened in 2004, guided tours have taken place on the weekends. Guided tours can also be arranged on other days by prior arrangement.
