Georges Edouard Louis Poisson (born November 27, 1924 in Düsseldorf ) is a French preservationist and historian of architecture , literature and art . He has made a name for himself with his efforts to preserve the estates of famous people, including those of Honoré de Balzac , Saint-Simon and Émile Zola .

Georges Poisson is the son of the officer Edouard Poisson and the journalist Marie-Madeleine nee. Sauvy (called Claude-Salvy), whose brother was the demographer Alfred Sauvy . On March 16, 1948, he married the museum curator Florence Clément, with whom he has two children. After completing school at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris, he received a license in literary studies ( lettres ) and a diploma in history, art history and archeology.

For years Poisson directed the Museum of the Île-de-France in Sceaux Castle . At the same time he had the museums of Meudon , Courbevoie , Dourdan and Blaye improved. He persuaded André Desguines to offer his 55,000-volume library to the Hauts-de-Seine department , so in 1990 he was appointed commissioner for cultural affairs in Hauts-de-Seine. In 1992 he retired and was awarded the title Conservateur général du Patrimoine in gratitude for saving the French cultural heritage . He had saved important sites such as the Monte Christo Castle , the park of the Meudon Castle (restoration of the Grande Perspective de Meudon ), the Vallée-aux-Loups ( Chateaubriand's home ) and the home of Émile Zola . As an expert in the history of architecture and art, Poisson has lectured at the Collège des Arts appliqués , the École normal supérieure d'Enseignement technique , the École du Louvre and at the University of Paris .

In 2009 Poisson published his memoir.
