The Musée de l'air et de l'espace (German " Air and Space Museum ") is a French museum for aerospace technology , which is located at Le Bourget Airport near Paris .

history

It was founded in 1919 at the suggestion of Albert Caquot , making it one of the oldest museums of its kind in the world. The most important part of the collection now includes around 300 aircraft, most of which are on display. There is also a collection of rockets and spacecraft and a planetarium. An extensive collection of aircraft engines is no longer accessible to the public. The extensive specialist library can be visited after registration. After the change of use at Le Bourget Airport, the current premises were moved into in 1975. Admission to the exhibition is free. Special exhibitions cost admission.
