The Mus Chaja ( Russian Мус-Хая ; Yakut Муус Хайа ) is at 2959 m above sea level the highest mountain in the Verkhoyansk Mountains in the northeast of the Asian part of Russia .
It is located in the center of Eastern Siberia around 485 km south of the Arctic Circle in the Suntar-Chajata mountain range , the southeastern branch of the elongated mountain range. Only about 135 km northeast of this mountain is Oymyakon - "the cold pole of the inhabited earth ".
