Muschampia mohammed is a butterfly fromthe thick-headed butterfly family (Hesperiidae).
features
The fore wing length is 15 to 16 millimeters. Muschampia mohammed is very similar to Muschampia proto . The outer edge of the hind wings is clearly wavy. The spots on the top are much better developed and yellowish to brownish in color. The submarginal spots are also more noticeable. The underside of the hind wings is generally brown or red-brown in color with reddish veins. In the post-disk region , some dark vein spaces can be seen, especially in cells 1c, two, and three. There are also small white spots, some of which are bordered in black. In addition, a large, bright discal spot can be seen, which is pearlescent.
variability
The first generation of butterflies are smaller (the fore wing length is only 14 millimeters). The underside of the hind wings is generally dark brown in color.
Geographical occurrence and habitat
Muschampia mohammed is in Morocco , Algeria and? Home to Tunisia . It can be found in dry, rocky and flower-rich places between 1500 and 1800 meters above sea level.
Way of life
The moths fly in two or three generations from March to October. The caterpillar lives on fire herbs ; called Phlomis crinita and Phlomis bovei .
Systematics
The species was first scientifically described by Charles Oberthür in 1887 under the name Syrichthus mohammed . The type locality is Sebdou , Lambessa ( Algeria ). There are two more recent synonyms , Syrichthus ahmed Oberthür, 1912 and Hesperia caid Le Cerf, 1923.
