Levator muscle
Musculus levator is the name for several muscles:
- Musculus levator anguli oris , the corner elevator
- Levator ani muscle , the anus lifter
- Levator labii superioris muscle , the lift of the upper lip
- Musculus levator labii superioris alaeque nasi , the lifter of the upper lip and ala
- Musculus levator palpebrae superioris , the lifter of the upper eyelid
- Musculus levator scapulae , the shoulder blade lifter
- Musculus levator veli palatini , the soft palate lifter
- Levatores costarum muscles , the rib elevators
Levator syndrome is a slang term for the following syndromes
- Levator ani syndrome , also Levator ani , an anorectal pain syndrome with spontaneous seizures in the levator ani muscle (sometimes used synonymously with Proctalgia fugax )
- Levator scapulae syndrome , painful stiffening of the levator scapulae muscle with restricted mobility in the shoulder and neck area
