The Musenalp near Isenthal is an alp in the canton of Uri in Switzerland . It is located at the foot of the Uri Rotstock in the Uri Alps .
reachability
The Musenalp can be reached on foot or by cable car over the Chlital - a side valley in the municipality of Isenthal - or by hike over the Sassigrat from Biwaldalp . It is the only larger alpine area in the Chlital and lies at 1,486 m above sea level. M.
Since around 1920, a path to the Uri Rotstock has also been developed from the Musenalp. This is considered to be challenging because it is steeper than the path from Biwaldalp .
Management
According to the Allmend Ordinance, the Vordere Musenalp (Alpeli) and the Hintere Musenalp together form only one alp. In terms of pasture management, however, they are separated into two pasture areas by the Hundwaldtobel. The two parts of the Alps are managed independently of each other. The entire alpine area has a pasture area of 84 ha used by cattle. Of this, 60 ha are on the rear Musenalp (hereinafter referred to as the Musenalp).
In contrast to the Alp Hütten-Oberalp, the Musenalp is not divided into lower and upper tables. The alp is cultivated during the entire alpine season. The Musenalp can be reached with a passenger train.
A guest establishment has been in operation on the Musenalp since 1934. This is usually open from May to October and offers overnight accommodation.
