Museu Diocesà de Menorca (Diocesan Museum of Menorca) is an ecclesiastical historical museum in the city of Ciutadella on the Balearic island of Menorca .

Opened in 1996 in the former Augustinian monastery , the museum was created from the collections of the former Bishop of Menorca, Manuel Mercader . Already in 1880 he put on a collection for an archaeological museum of the Diocesà de Menorca ( Diocese of Menorca ).

The renaissance church Els Socors , with wall paintings from the 18th century and the baroque organ built in 1793 by the Catalan organ builder Josep Casas i Soler (1743–1802), as well as the cloister with semicircular arches supported by strong columns, are part of the Augustinian monastery built in the Baroque style from the 17th century and integrated into the museum tour.

In the historic monastery rooms, the museum offers an extensive exhibition of prehistoric finds, old city models, maps and ecclesiastical art treasures, other liturgical objects and religious goldsmiths from the 17th to 20th centuries. A painting section has been set up in the former dining room of the monastery and represents a remarkable example of Menorcan architecture and works by the master Joan Amorós, as well as a collection of figurative and abstract art from the early 20th century by the Ciutadella-born Catalan artist Pere Daura . In addition to the permanent exhibition, temporary works of contemporary art are also shown.

Sponsor and administration: Bisbat de Menorca (Diocese of Menorca).
