The Altenburg Museum of the municipality of Windhaag bei Perg in the Perg district in Upper Austria is sponsored by the Windhaag-Altenburg Cultural Association. It is a stop on the Enzmilner cultural hiking trail , and the castle and palace trail also leads past the museum to the Windhaag castle ruins .

The community bought the old school in Altenburg in 1984 and since 2002 the museum has been offering insights into the past of Windhaag and its surroundings, with the focus being on “The incredible story of Count Joachim Enzmilner”.

The history of Windhaag is closely linked to Joachim Enzmilner and his daughter Eva Magdalena von Windhag , but the Prague family is also placed in the local historical context in the museum. The priory in Windhaag as well as the Windhaag castle ruins , the Windhaag parish church and the Altenburg branch church are architectural witnesses of this eventful history.

A museum tour presents the more than 500 year old frescoes in the branch church directly adjacent to the museum.
