Ravigauly (born July 18, 1963 in Herxheim ; Sanskrit : रविगौल्य , real name Bernd Gauly ) is a sitar player who combines Indian and Western music.

biography

Bernd Gauly was born in Herxheim near Landau / Pfalz. After graduating from secondary school in 1980, Gauly completed an apprenticeship as a telecommunications electronics engineer . After graduating from the BBS Landau in 1986, he attended the physiotherapy school from 1988 and the Ackermann Institute for Chiropractic in Stockholm from 2008 to 2009 . He has been a state-approved physiotherapist full-time since 1988 and an alternative practitioner with his own practice since 2001. As a part-time musician, he has had his own record label since 2018. According to his own statements, the self-taught musician was strongly influenced by Indian / Oriental music through several trips to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Playing all instruments, sitar , santur , dilruba , tampura , saz , singing bowls and tabla , as well as electric guitar, bass, drum and keyboard, he recorded himself in his own studio. In addition to the solo project, he performs at live concerts with the formation Ravigauly feat. BUTI on. Gauly is married with three children and lives in Herxheim .
