Museum Altes Zeughaus Solothurn
The Altes Zeughaus Museum in Solothurn is one of the largest historically oriented armaments and weapons exhibitions in Switzerland , but it is primarily focused on the Canton of Solothurn .
history
The building of today's museum was built around 1609. After that it was used for centuries as an armory ( armory ) Swiss for the troops of the then state political or sovereign (independent) state of Solothurn, this also on the establishment of the State of 1848 with a certain centralization of military organization also. At the beginning of the 20th century, the canton put several new armories into operation, and the armory in the old town of Solothurn was converted into a museum in 1907. The building was extensively renovated between 2014 and 2016 and the entire exhibition was redesigned.

The armaments on display show a cross-section of the Solothurn and Swiss army and war history from the Middle Ages to the First World War.
