The Museum Frühmesshaus Bartholomäberg is a museum in the municipality of Bartholomäberg on Dorf 11.

history

For Bartholomäberg, the year 1350 is assumed for the establishment of the first Roman Catholic parish in Montafon , the mother church was the Laurentius Church in Bludenz . The pastors were all local people. The early knives were mostly locals too, who ran the small Frühmessgut as a sideline, some meadow with livestock and some forest for firewood, in order to have a somewhat better livelihood. From 1850 the church leadership avoided the use of local residents.

The early mess house, built in 1657, served as accommodation for the young priests, who were mostly only employed in the parish for one year. In the Montafon, the term "early knife " was in use because the early knife read the first mass at the time . The short length of stay and the fact that an early knife was not ordered resulted in minor changes to the structure of the residential building, which was one of the reasons why the Federal Monuments Office placed this simple original building under monument protection without any later modifications or additions. In the Montafon Homeland Book from 1974, the priestly distress of our time was lamented, which left the Innerberg Curate orphaned and led to the fact that in the whole of the Montafon dean's office only the main town of Schruns had an early knife, which meant that early measuring houses were empty and early measuring goods were sold.

museum

The house was bought and restored by the municipality of Bartholomäberg and opened on June 6, 2009 as the 50th museum in Vorarlberg . Bruno Winkler was appointed curator. The Montafon Heritage Protection Association is the sponsor of the museum and the owner of the collection.

  • 2011: "The world of Luzius Hauser - pastor, witch finder, healer" An insight into pastoral care, witch hunts, miraculous healings and counter-reformation in the Montafon in the 17th century. Between 1628 and 1666, Luzius Hauser worked as a pastor in Bartholomäberg. He achieved importance beyond his pastoral work as a sought-after "witch finder" and "spiritual healer". The magical work of Luzius Hauser and his reputation as a healer reached far beyond Vorarlberg to the Lake Constance area, to Tyrol and probably also to Graubünden. He was also asked about his healing knowledge when it came to animal diseases. As a pastor in the age of religious schism, he left the early knives with an extensive library of theological works with the condition that they continue to apply and implement his ideologies and theses.
  • September 24, 2013: Opening of the special exhibition on the early mining and settlement history of the Montafon (prepared by the Goethe University Frankfurt together with the municipality of Bartholomäberg and the Montafon museums)
