The Museum Gugging (spelling “museum gugging”) is an art museum in Maria Gugging , a cadastral community of Klosterneuburg in Lower Austria .

It is located in a former hospital building of the “Lower Austrian Nerve Clinic East - Klosterneuburg-Gugging”, which was dissolved in 2007 .

Conceived as an exhibition space for Art brut and opened in 2006, it shows the works of the artists from Gugging where they were created and is at the same time a forum for international art of the past and present regardless of categorization.

Together with the galerie gugging , the house of artists and the open atelier gugging , the museum gugging forms the Art / Brut Center Gugging .

Exhibition program

The museum has an exhibition area of 1,300 m². 700 m² of which are dedicated to semi-permanent exhibitions that focus on the presentation of works by artists from Gugging from the 1950s to the present day.

Others

The punctuation “.!” (Dot and exclamation mark) used by the Museum Guggging in the exhibition titles and the crossbar letters used in the logo are a reference to the Gugging artist August Walla (1936–2001). Walla used a calligraphic font and the aforementioned punctuation in his numerous letters and in drawings, paintings and objects.
