The Museum of Medieval Legal History (also known as the Torture Museum) is a museum in Vienna's 6th district, Mariahilf . It deals with the history of European law with a focus on torture methods from the Middle Ages to the early modern period .

The entrance to the museum, located in the immediate vicinity of the Haus des Meeres , leads into an air raid shelter from the Second World War . There are around 100 original exhibits, which extend over an exhibition area of ​​around 800 m². These include a. the Iron Maiden , a rack , the pillory or the guillotine . The individual devices are mainly represented with life-size dolls. There is also a room in which the simulation of a bombing is carried out.

There is also a section that was created in cooperation with Amnesty International and deals with today's forms of torture and violations of human rights .
