history

After the village fire in 1732, the farm was rebuilt in the center of the village on the old stone walls. The building can now be visited in this old form with furnishings. Rural families lived in the building until around 1990.

The building is a typical residential building of the region, which as a building is part of a group that forms the typical style of an Alpine heap in the Alpine region . The foundation walls consist of stone up to one meter thick.

The building is a listed building . Its roof construction is original and, as was customary in the past, covered with wooden shingles.

exhibition

The museum tries to convey a picture of the way of life of farmers in the 19th century on the eastern foothills of the Alps. The museum's holdings include old tools, clothes and shoes that were made on the farm, as well as tools for making them.

The storage room, kitchen and living room as well as the bedroom can be viewed. Pictures of saints and pictures, books of saints from previous centuries and various old writings are displayed in a showcase.

Medicinal plants for prevention, relief and recovery for humans and animals, as well as aromatic herbs for the kitchen can be seen in the attached cottage garden.

A historical collection since the beginning of the reclamation and settlement of the place in the 12th century is summarized in the house chronicle and is available.

The museum has individual opening times, which can be agreed with the museum management.

Every mid-October there is the event “es Herbstlt” in the museum and at the beginning of the Advent season “Advent in the Rauchkuchl”. With poems, stories, sketches, stories, songs and musical accompaniment, contemplative and humorous from the life of the farmer then and now, special hours are offered to the visitor on these evenings in the ambience of the old farmhouse with food and drinks.
