Museum of Neon Art

The Museum of Neon Art ( MONA ) is an art museum in Glendale , Los Angeles County , whose collection focuses on fluorescent tube art . The museum focuses on art related to electricity and movement. Both rare old neon signs and works related to neon light by contemporary artists whose works range from abstract geometric shapes and unusual optical effects to moving mechanical sculptures are on display. The museum also collects kinetic art , restores the objects and exhibits them. The history and technology of neon signage and art is also featured.

history

The museum was founded in 1981 by Lili Lakich and Richard Jenkins. In 1996 the museum was moved to the Renaissance Tower .
