Toulouse Museum
The Museum of Toulouse ( French Muséum d'histoire naturelle de la ville de Toulouse , short MHNT ) is a natural history museum in Toulouse .

The museum was established in 1796 by Philippe-Isidore Picot de Lapeyrouse in the buildings of the former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites and was initially only accessible to science. By resolution of the city council, the collections were made accessible to the general public in 1865. Edouard Filhol became the first museum director .
One of the first prehistoric museum exhibitions was co-founded by the prehistorian Émile Cartailhac , the biologist Jean-Baptiste Noulet, and the biologist and geologist Eugène Trutat .
From 1997 to 1999 the facilities were restructured. In 2007 the museum was expanded under Jean-Paul Viguier. The museum has a library and a botanical garden .
Collections
In the course of time, numerous collections came to the museum, including those of the ornithologist Victor Besaucèle (1847–1924), the anthropologist Gaston Roquemaurel (1804–1878) and the mollusc collection of Dominique Dupuy . Other collections include a. the Entomology , fossils, minerals.
