His photographs cover a wide spectrum and form a source of information for the Pyrenees at the end of the 19th century: landscapes , sights , everyday life , climbs and excursions as well as his friends among the Pyrenees and the mountain guides : Maurice Gourdon, Émile Belloc, Henri Beraldi etc.

Henri Beraldi said of him: Trutat was the apostle, the creator of the Pyrénéist Conference; a sober and elegant emcee, like a professor with long experience teaching in front of a busy audience (in the Museum of Toulouse), yet it was he who stuck to the true principle of the slide show: little talk and never introductory reflections, the audience with impatience pawing the hooves: "Immediately bring the magic lantern!" And that is exactly what a slide show: it is the slide with as little presentation as possible. Kurzweil came among the dead.
