The Pic de la Maladeta ( Aragonese ) or Pico de la Maladeta ( Spanish ) is a 3308 m high mountain near the highest Pyrenean summit Aneto in the province of Huesca in the Spanish autonomous region of Aragon .

The mountain is located in the Parque Natural Posets-Maladeta in the municipality of Benasque . For some time it was considered the highest mountain in the Pyrenees. That is why the mountain range, to which the Aneto belongs, bears his name. The western summit, Maladeta Occidental, is 3,254 m high.

The first ascent was made by the German naturalist Johann Jacob Friedrich Wilhelm Parrot with the mountain guide Pierre Barrau on September 29, 1817 from Bagnères-de-Luchon . He discovered that the Aneto towered even higher than the Monte Perdido , which in its time was considered the highest peak in the Pyrenees.
