The Music Industry Awards ( MIA's for short ) are music prizes that have been presented since 2007 by the Flemish broadcaster VRT and the Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen . They are the successors to the ZAMU Award given from 1994 to 2006 by the Vlaamse vereniging van Zangers en Muzikanten, which has since been dissolved .

The first award ceremony took place on January 30, 2008 and was broadcast on February 1, 2008 by the television station één . The prizes were awarded in twelve categories, of which the audience could vote for the winner in nine categories, and a jury made up of representatives of the music industry decided in three categories.

The biggest winner of the MIA's 2007 was the singer Milow with three awards. In 2008, he again dominated the award ceremony with five awards. At the MIA's 2009 the bands Absynthe Minded and DAAN each received four awards. At the fourth MIA's ceremony on January 7, 2011, Stromae received the award for "Hit of the Year" and "Best Newcomer".
