Tokyo University of Music
The Tokyo Music Academy ( Japanese 東京 音 楽 大学 , Tōkyō Ongaku Daigaku ) was founded in 1907 as the Tōyō Conservatory ( 東洋 音 楽 学校 , Tōyō Ongaku Gakkō ) in the Kanda district of the Chiyoda district of Tokyo and is the oldest private music academy in Japan. It was moved to the Ikebukuro district in 1924 after the original university campus was destroyed by the Great Kanto earthquake .
