Kanda (Tokyo)
Kanda ( Japanese 神 田 ) is an area in the north of the Tōkyōter district of Chiyoda . At the time of the old city of Tōkyō , it was one of the city districts ( Ku ) and was accordingly called Kanda-ku ( 神 田 区 ). history
- 1878: The Ku Kanda is established.
- 1889: The city of Tōkyō is founded. Kanda becomes one of the boroughs.
- 1943: The old Tōkyō prefecture ( 東京 府 , Tōkyō-fu ) and the city of Tōkyō are merged. The new Tokyo Prefecture ( 東京 都 , Tōkyō-to ) , which still exists today, is created . Kanda remains one of the boroughs.
- 1947: The districts of Kanda and Kōjimachi are amalgamated to form the current district of Chiyoda . In the names of the previous sub-communities, however, the name Kanda remains as a prefix.
