The Berlin musiktotal publishing house was founded in 2004 by the studied drummer, teacher and author Tom Börner and is still run today. With Börner's basic book drums he published his first book in his own publishing house. Publications by well-known musicians were added later, including MIA. , Jan Delay and Dani Löble . Other publications by the publisher include Heinz Erhardt , Flo Dauner , Chie Ishii, Marcel Bach, Frank Siebold, Matthias Kastner, Power! Percussion, Elbtonal Percussion, Daniel Schlep, Barbara Hellmuth, Fourschlag.

In 2007 Tom Börner founded the label musiktotal records! founded. Here u. a. the previously undiscovered piano compositions by the German comedian Heinz Erhardt , as well as the Berlin anthem "We are Berlin" are published.

Musiktotal Verlag was later the first publisher to develop learning apps for drums (DrumCoach Vol. 1–4) and to offer its books with MP3 downloads and add-ons. Börner's passion for drums and percussion led him to found the company drumcoach.de , Germany's first download portal for drums and percussion, with well-known German musicians in 2010 . In this context, the musiktotal group was founded in 2012 , in which the publisher, the label and drumcoach.de are united.
