Musicology seminar at the University of Basel
The Musicology Seminar of the University of Basel is an educational institute of the Philosophical-Historical Faculty of the University of Basel . It was founded in 1912 as a musicology seminar under the leadership of Professor Karl Nef , an associate professor . In 1923, when Nef was appointed full professor, the institute was put on an equal footing with the other institutes in the faculty.
The main research focus of the seminar is on the one hand on early music (including an important microfilm archive) and on the other hand on new music (including Anton Webern's complete edition ). There is a close cooperation with the Paul Sacher Foundation, the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and the Music Academy .
