The Martinihaus music boarding school in Rottenburg am Neckar is a Roman Catholic boarding school in the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese . The boarding school is run by the diocesan foundation St. Martinus in Rottenburg.
history
The boarding school Martinihaus was founded in 1867 as an episcopal boys' seminary . The intention was to educate future priests. In the years 1900 to 1910 it was enlarged due to the high demand. During the First World War , the Martinihaus temporarily served as quarters for soldiers. During the Second World War , it was closed in 1940 on the orders of the National Socialists . During this time, students from the Schwäbisch Gmünd school for the deaf could be accommodated in the boarding school without being noticed.
On January 7, 1946, the Martinihaus was reopened as an episcopal study home. Since 2001, it shall be known Musisches boarding and girls since October 2003, after a large extension was added.
