Mustafa Edip Servet or Mustafa Edip Tör (* 1881 in Kuruçeşme , Istanbul ; † 1960 ) was a Turkish staff officer , member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the ninth Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey .

Life

Servet was born to Ahmet Servet Pascha and Emine İfakat . He completed his primary school education in Yemen when his father was the commander in chief of the Ottoman troops there. He then attended the military schools in Selanik and the Kuleli military high school in Istanbul. He finished his training in 1904 and in 1909 he was appointed staff officer. In Selanik he joined the banned organization Vatan ve Hürriyet Cemiyeti ( German  Society for Fatherland and Freedom ). As a result, he had to flee temporarily to Istanbul. He was one of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's closest friends . In 1915 he married the daughter of Rasim Pasha , the governor of Tripolitania . In 1916 he was stationed on the Caucasus front . In 1917 he was stationed in Gazza and Dobruja and received the order of Üçünçü Mecidi Nişani 1st class. He then resigned from the Ottoman army , joined Ataturk and took part in the Turkish War of Liberation . He was given the task of ensuring supplies of weapons. After the war he became a member of parliament. Between 1926 and 1927 Ataturk sent him to various countries on diplomatic missions. After Ataturk's death, Servet withdrew from public life and suffered a cerebral haemorrhage in 1944, which partially paralyzed him. He then spent the rest of his life listening to classical music, reading and chatting with friends.

Freemasonry

1904, when he was in Selanik, his contribution was light in the Grand Orient of Italy belonging Macedonia Rizorta lodge. On November 20, 1904, he became a journeyman and in February 1905 he became a member of the Veritas Lodge. In 1927 he became a thirty-third degree Mason. In 1927 he was elected Grand Master and held this position until 1930.
