The Mustjõgi ("Black River") is a 84 km long river in southern Estonia . Its catchment area covers 1820 km². The Mustjõgi is the largest Estonian tributary of the Gauja (German Livonian Aa, Estonian Koiva ). It is known for its abundance of fish with 24 species.

The Mustjõgi has its source at the lakes Suur Saarjärv and Küünimetsa järv in the Karula ridge, about 10 km south of Antsla . It flows 2 km southwest of the village Tsirgumäe on the Latvian- Estonian border into the Gauja, about 250 km from its mouth in the Gulf of Riga .

Tributaries of the Mustjõgi are the Ahelo on the right and the Vaidava on the left .
