The Muziekcentrum Frits Philips ( Muziekgebouw Einhoven ) is a concert hall in the Dutch city ​​of Eindhoven .

history

It was built between 1990 and 1992 to designs by the Dutch architect Rob van Aken and opened on September 2, 1992 by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands .

The construction took place in connection with the redesign of inner-city areas through the Heuvel Galerie shopping arcade , into which the music center is integrated. Walter Brune had the overall planning for this . The house has two concert halls, the Great Hall with 1250 seats and the Rabobank Hall with 385 seats.

The namesake is Frits Philips , nephew of Gerard Philips , founder of the Philips group.
