Gerard Leonard Frederik Philips (born October 9, 1858 in Zaltbommel , † January 25, 1942 in The Hague ) was a Dutch industrialist. Together with his father Frederik Philips he co-founded the Philips company as a family business in 1891. Gerard and his younger brother Anton Philips changed the business by founding NV Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken (Philips Incandescent Lamp Factory ) in 1912. As the first CEO of the Philips Corporation, Gerard put with Anton the basis for the multinational Philips group.
