Wisse Dekker (1983)

Wisse Dekker (born April 26, 1924 in Eindhoven , † August 25, 2012 in Zoutelande ) was a Dutch manager. Dekker was CEO of Philips from 1981 to 1986 .

Life

Dekker studied economics in Tilburg . In 1948 he joined Philips and initially worked in the Philips regional coordination office for Southeast Asia and from 1948 on various posts in the Philips organization in Indonesia. In October 1956 he returned to Eindhoven and became deputy head of the regional coordination office for Southeast Asia. He took on the same function in 1959 for the Philips Far East division until he was appointed head of this division in 1961. In November 1966 he became Philips General Manager for the Far East, based in Tokyo. At the beginning of 1972 he became a board member of the Philips organization in Great Britain and a little later, in March of that year, its senior manager . In April 1976 he moved to the board of the parent company NV Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken, Eindhoven. At the beginning of 1979 he became deputy chairman of the board. In December 1981 Wisse Dekker became President and Chief Executive Officer of the global corporation. He held this position until 1986. He was replaced by Cornelis van der Klugt .
