Hamilton Mvumelwano Dandala (born October 26, 1951 in Mount Ayliff ), mostly known as "Mvume Dandala", is a South African politician and church leader.

Dandala studied in Cambridge theology . From 1996 to 2003 he was the presiding bishop of the Methodist Church in South Africa and from 2003 to 2008 he was chairman of the All-African Church Conference . He resigned from his ministry before running for president.

On February 23, 2009 he was put up for the presidential election in April by the Congress of the People (COPE) as a candidate. In the parliamentary elections in South Africa 2009 , COPE received 7.42% of the vote. Dandala became group leader of the party represented for the first time in parliament. In the course of the power struggle within the party between Mosiuoa Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa , he resigned from the group's chairmanship and as a member of parliament with effect from July 15, 2010.

The University of Transkei awarded him an honorary doctorate in philosophy in 2003 and the Protestant University of Cameroon in 2005 in theology.

Dandala is married to Ntombizodwa Ntukwana and has a daughter and a son.
