μ Lyrae ( My Lyrae , μ Lyr ) is a fifth magnitude star that belongs to spectral class A and is a little more than 130 parsecs away. Measurements of the projected rotational speed v⋅sin (i) for μ Lyr resulted in values in the range of around 200 km s −1 . The star bears the historical proper name Alathfar (from the Arabic الأظفر, DMG al-uẓfur 'fingernail, claw').
