My Name Is George is a Winterthur indie pop band that was founded in 2003 by three former members of the art rock band Pan . They met the Dutch singer Albert den Dekker and the drummer Simon Wehrli at concerts that they gave as members of other bands. Since then the band has been giving concerts on a regular basis and has so far released one EP and four CDs.
history
In 2005 Wehrli left the band and from then on Matthias Kräutli sat on the drums. My Name Is George was named the country's top Swiss band in 2006 by the DRS3 radio station . The album Black and Blue worked with producer Ronald Bood.
At the beginning of 2010 it was announced that Django Hodosy would replace the previous drummer Kräutli until further notice. Shortly afterwards they won the “Austrian Newcomer Award” in Linz. In March 2010 the album The Bad Old Days Are Over produced by Gavin Maitland was released. It was offered for download on the band's homepage, whereby the purchase price could be determined by the buyer. The later released CD version contained two additional songs.
Since April 2011 Matthias «Matete» Kräutli is back in the band.
In 2012 work began on the new album This Is Real , which for the first time was produced entirely by himself and under the direction of guitarist Philip Harrison (Chucky! Music Productions). The album was released on March 1, 2013 and includes a. a cover version of the King Crimson classic Moonchild.
After the preliminary single Take Me Away was released in February 2015, the album The Color of Now was released in September 2015 , which Matthias Kräutli recorded as a producer in his Estrich studio. The album entered the Swiss album charts at number 33.
Since January 2016, the Neflix show "Under Arrest" has been available in many English-speaking countries, which uses the band's 2010 song You Are Under Arrest as the title track. This broadcast documents Canadian police work in a reality format.
