In the wasteland it inhabits all kinds of vegetation types that thrive on sandy soils.

The back is light brown, the underside white. The long tail is sand-colored. The ears are relatively short. The flesh-colored feet are long and narrow. They have a small throat pouch. The head-trunk length is 100 to 115 mm, the tail length 140 to 175 mm, the hind foot length 34 to 40 mm and the ear length 18 to 22 mm. It reaches a weight of 25 to 50 g. Although it is not caught very often, its presence can be easily identified by the distance between the rear footprints of 20 to 60 cm. Your cave in the deep sand can be recognized by a mound of earth 40 cm high at a distance of 2 m from the entrance to the cave. On Groote Eylandt , most boys are born in May during the rainy season , but births can occur between February and September. A litter can consist of one to five cubs.
