N-1 is a Krautrock project from Krefeld founded in 1998 . Members are the two founders Steven Hein (guitar) and Maziar Yazdkhasti (bass) as well as the drummer Thorsten Marach, who has been part of the collective since 2017. Over thirty different guest musicians took part in productions and live performances by N-1 (read: "N Minus 1").

history

All of the band's releases are live recordings of jam sessions and mainly contain improvised Krautrock with elements of various other musical styles, depending on which guest musicians are with which instruments. Since 2003, numerous albums have been produced by N-1 over the years, sometimes with double-digit releases per year (e.g. 2008, 2015 and 2017). Foreign music portals, for example in the USA, Greece or Russia, regularly report on publications by N-1.

2017, the Russian label RAIG published with nomma the first physical volume of the band. In addition to the permanent members, Udo Hanten , keyboardist for the electronics veterans You, also took part. Musikreviews.de wrote about Nomma that the album was an “instrumental ride between concrete composition and casual improvisation. [...] ideal music for discerning minds "and awarded 12 out of 15 possible points. International music blogs and magazines also reported on the release, with coverage of Nomma in Spain and the Netherlands, for example .

Less than six months later, RAIG released the second physical sound carrier in August with the title "Do it, I already have it". The press also wrote in praise on this, for example in Germany and the Netherlands.
