The NBank is the investment and development bank of the State of Lower Saxony , based in Hanover . On January 1st, 2004 it started its operative business. As an institution under public law, NBank belongs 100 percent to the state of Lower Saxony.
In Lower Saxony, NBank is responsible for advising on and approving funding programs from state, federal and EU funds. As a state development institute, the area of responsibility includes economic, labor market, housing and infrastructure promotion . The NBank grants loans and grants to medium- sized businesses , start-ups and the self-employed . In addition to its headquarters in Hanover, NBank also has offices in Braunschweig , Lüneburg , Oldenburg and Osnabrück to provide comprehensive advice .
In other business areas, it documents the price development on the Lower Saxony housing and property market, participates in EU joint projects for the use of energy resources and arranges contacts in science and companies in the EU (EEN). It provides the umbrella for NKB - Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaft Niedersachsen mbH for small and medium-sized companies as well as the NCapital - platform for equity capital for raising venture capital in larger amounts.
