NHK Hall

The NHK Hall ( Japanese NHK ホ ー ル , enu eichi kei hōru ; English NHK Hall ) is a concert hall at the NHK Hōsō Center ("NHK broadcasting center"; English NHK Broadcasting Center ), the headquarters of the NHK broadcasting company , in Shibuya , Prefecture Tokyo , Japan . The hall is the venue for the NHK symphony orchestra and for events such as the Japan Music Awards (1979), the Kōhaku Uta alleys and concerts.

history

In 1955 the first NHK Hall was opened in Tokyo 's Uchisaiwaichō district . After the relocation of the NHK headquarters and the construction of the NHK Broadcasting Center , a new concert hall was also built there. Construction work on the new building began in 1972, and the concert hall was opened on June 20, 1973.

The acoustics of the hall were first set up by Nagata Minoru , later by Nagata Onkyō Sekkei (Eng. Nagata Acoustics ), while TOA provided the sound equipment. In total, the NHK Hall has space for 3,800 people.
