Gameplay

In addition to the familiar gameplay of the NHL series, some new features and game modes have been added in NHL 18.

NHL Threes

The brand new game mode NHL Threes , in which you play 3-on-3 on a smaller ice rink, is highlighted . NHL Threes is inspired by Acarde sports games. The mode has a campaign in which you compete against different teams of the NHL and AHL. Playing the campaign gives you new jerseys, logos and players. A highlight of the mode is playing with the team's mascots, who can also be unlocked like normal players.

Spengler Cup

A new tournament has also been added, namely the Spengler Cup, which is considered the oldest international ice hockey team tournament . This tournament has been included in the game since the December 2017 update.

Defensive skill stick

With this feature EA has changed the defensive game in the game significantly, as you can use the bat more effectively in defense.

Teams and changes

The Vegas Golden Knights , the 31st NHL franchise, are included for the first time since NHL 18 . For the first time, the teams of the EBEL , HockeyAllsvenska and the Champions Hockey League can also be played in the game.

The player rating system has also been adjusted. This makes it easier to play with a “good” player than with a “bad” one.
