The NK Drava Ptuj is named after the Slovenian name of the river Drava and has been participating in the second highest Slovenian league, the 2nd Slovenska Nogometna League , since the 2010/11 season . After the immediate relegation in the first first division season 2003/04 with only 15 points from 22 games, the club benefited from the withdrawal of three clubs with the result that Drava Ptuj could still remain first class. Since then, the club has been able to establish itself with 4–6 Always place in the middle of the ten or twelve clubs Slovenska Nogometna Liga.

Towards the end of the 2008/09 season, Drava put down a final spurt with seven wins, one draw and one loss. Thus, the league succeeded on the last day of the season by a draw at NK Domžale . A year later, however, the club rose from bottom of the table in the second highest league.

In the summer of 2011, the club went bankrupt and disbanded.

The team played in the Mestni Stadium (Municipal Stadium) of Ptuj. The jersey colors were blue and white.
