The NSU Sport-Prinz is a car model that NSU Motorenwerke AG built from 1959 to 1967 in different variants.

The car presented in 1958, which had the type number 41, was a coupé with two full-size seats and a thinly padded emergency seat in the rear. The body was designed by the Italian designer Bertone in Turin, where the first of these coupés were also manufactured. The basic shape of the body, which was also available with a sunroof, was adopted as an open version in the Wankel Spider five years later . The chassis of the Sport-Prinz initially came from the Prince II . In the fall of 1960, however, the Coupé received the Prinz III chassis with greater spring travel, a front stabilizer and additional rubber springs. In 1964 it was adapted to the Prinz 4 and received disc brakes on the front axle instead of the previous drum brakes.

Initially, the Sport-Prinz had the air-cooled two-cylinder engine of the Prinz II, but with an output increased from 20 to 30 HP (22 kW) and a maximum torque of 4.5 mkp (44 Nm) at 3500 rpm. This performance remained unchanged when the displacement was increased from 583 to 598 cm³ in early 1961. The top speed of the 565 kg car was around 120 km / h.

At the end of 1967 the production of the NSU Sport-Prinz was stopped. 20,831 units had been built by then, 2,715 of them at Bertone. The selling price was initially at DM 6550, - and then fell to DM 5135, - by April 1965.
