ORF , the Red Cross and Caritas were involved at the beginning . Other organizations soon joined, such as Diakonie Österreich , Malteser Hospitaldienst Austria and others. Originally, the action was designed to help the victims of the war in the former Yugoslavia , especially those of the Bosnian war . In the following years, foreign broadcasters also joined the campaign. It was the largest relief operation for the war-torn Balkans.
