Neighborhood home Steglitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The neighborhood home Steglitz e. V. was a social institution that was active from 1948 to 1999 and was located in the Berlin district of Lichterfelde in what is now the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district.

The neighborhood home was a member of the Association for Social-Cultural Work. V., Landesgruppe Berlin , as well as in the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband , Landesverband Berlin. The seat of the neighborhood home was the Lichterfelde manor , also popularly known as Carstenn-Schlösschen . Among other things, the administration was housed there, as well as a day-care center and a childcare facility for after-school children.

history

Founded in 1948 by committed citizens of the then Steglitz district as a non-profit, registered association, the Steglitz neighborhood home moved into one floor of the oldest profane building in the former district, the Carstenn-Schlösschen Gutshaus Lichterfelde.

At the beginning of the 1970s, the facility used the entire building and distinguished itself as a social and cultural center for the neighborhood. The socio-political intention of the statutes was expressed in a co-determined company model and in the autonomous design of different social work fields.

After a restructuring of the facility in 1982, a daycare center as a half-day facility as well as a school day care center were attached to the neighborhood home.

Other fields of work included:

  • Work with old people
  • Advice and information
  • Historical working group & archaeological collection

In 1999 the Steglitz neighborhood home stopped its work, which it could not continue due to lower grants from the State of Berlin.

The existing infrastructure (building and equipment) was replaced in the same year by the Lankwitz neighborhood association. V. (since 2001: District Center Steglitz eV) taken over, changed and further expanded.
