The news service magazine of the German Association for Public and Private Welfare (NDV) appears monthly in A4 format with a length of at least 32 pages as well as an advertisement section and job market. The publisher is the German Association for Public and Private Welfare (DV).

The NDV contains current treatises, reports and information from all areas of social work, in particular on the topics of social welfare, youth welfare, health care, elderly care and help for disabled people. In addition, the NDV regularly contains information from the technical work of the German Association (e.g. reports and recommendations), personal messages and book reviews.

As a specialist journal for social and youth welfare, the news service is a central source of information for everyone who works in public welfare or in social organizations or who wants to keep up to date with current developments in the social field. As the communication organ of the German Association, the NDV provides information about further developments in social policy, social law and social work, as advised in its specialist committees.
