News journal describes a form of broadcast on television that is characterized by daily news, background information and explained contexts. On German television, including in particular the tagesthemen the ARD and the heute-journal of ZDF . Every evening they broadcast a half-hour news program which, in addition to a summary of the day's events (where the Tagesschau at 8 p.m. and today at 7 p.m. see their main task), primarily wants to classify and explain events. News journals accordingly also contain longer articles, interviews and comments.
