Naco is a small town in the Mexican state of Sonora with 6,064 inhabitants (as of 2010). Naco, capital of the Municipio Naco , is located on the border with Arizona opposite the US town of the same name Naco at an average altitude of 1408 meters in the UTC-7 time zone. The main source of income is agriculture. The city is about 95 kilometers from Nogales (Sonora).
history
Naco was founded in 1901 and was originally called Nahua. The name comes from the Opata language . Naco is famous for the Battle of Naco , which took place between two Mexican parties in 1915.
