Nagai Naoyuki
Nagai Naoyuki ( Japanese 永 井 尚志 ; * 1816 ; † 1896 ) was the director of the Nagasaki Naval Training Center, founded in 1855 . In 1857 he went on board the Kankō Maru , Japan's first steamship and training ship of the center, together with 103 of his students to Tokyo .
In 1868 he took part in the Boshin War on the side of the loyalists and sailed with Enomoto Takeaki on the warship Kaiten . He surrendered with the rest of the troops of the Ezo Republic on May 15, 1869.
After a period of 3 years, which he possibly spent in prison, he was given another post in the imperial administration.
