The Q-Max class is a series of LNG gas tankers from the Qatar Gas Transport Company (NAKILAT) from Qatar . The ships are the world's largest ships of their kind.
details
The series, which was commissioned in November 2004, was built between 2007 and 2010 by the shipyards Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Geoje. The units were built to ship LNG from the Qatar Liquefied Gas Company worldwide. The dimensions of the ships resulted from the maximum size to be handled in the loading port, the Qatargas-2 terminal in Ras Laffan, Qatar, ( Q-Max ).
The owner NAKILAT has chartered the ships to Qatargas, the management is carried out by Shell International Trading & Shipping Company (STASCO) in London.
