Way of life

Egg, Museum Wiesbaden collection

Nama grouse need little food and water and their plumage isolates the birds from the typical temperature extremes of their habitat. The only food these birds eat consists of plant seeds.

The animals are able to transport water to their young in the curved breast feathers with a special feather structure.
