Namo Aziz

Namo Aziz (* 1958 ) is a Kurdish author and essayist of Iraqi origin living in Germany .

With his German debut No Way Home (1991) after fleeing his homeland, Aziz described “the pain and dream of the Kurds”. This was followed in 1992 by the collection of essays, Fremd in einer Kalten Land (1992). In his publication Kurdistan and the problems around Öcalan (1999) on the minority issue in Turkey, a contribution by Abdullah Öcalan himself appeared.

In 1991, Aziz received his doctorate from Bonn University on the subject of Badr Shakir as-Sayyab and its importance for the new Arabic poetry .
